About a year ago to the day I was looking for a Brittany. I looked everywhere
for my companion and finally I found Jim and Paulette Doperalski. I emailed them
and within the next day they responded and had me come up to visit the newly
born puppies. Enthusiastic about finding a breeder I made my way up to the Green
Bay area to visit what could be my new puppy. I instantly fell in love with the
puppies and couldn't leave until I claimed one. Many know that the breed is
known for being great hunting dogs as well as being very energetic. Jim and
Paulette's dogs are not only that, they are the sweetest most reliable animals
you will ever find. Their new born dogs are treated with the most respect. Jim
and Paulette don’t breed the dogs to make money. They breed them to bring joy to
the owners. Each Brittany comes from a championship bloodline. My Brittany is
approaching 1 year old and he is the best companion I could ever ask for. If you
are looking for a dependable best friend then JD's Hawks Brittanies is the way
to go.

Three years ago, we were on the search for a family dog who was "a bit bigger and more active" than the traditional "designer house dogs" and we came upon Jim and Paulette Doperaksi's Brittanies, which we found from an internet search. Falcon had just given birth to a litter of puppies so I scheduled a visit while in the Green Bay area to visit Hawkens, Falcon and the puppies. I immediately fell in love and when I bent down to look at the litter, Addison picked me out. A few weeks later, we brought Addison home and it has been a real love affair between Addison and our family of 3 kids and another dog.
When I went to visit Jim and Paulette, you can tell they have a real love for the dogs and that they are truly a part of their family. They kept the puppies in their house and were there 24/7. The dogs are not bred for money, but they're bred to be great hunters and great family pets.   Paulette uses her nursing skills to take care of her puppies and I'm sure she can share a few stories with how she used those skills during deliveries!
Addison lives in Chicagoland, which means we had to consider how we're going to manage a dog that needs to run, while living in a suburban community with neighbors. Brittanies are very smart so training was extremely easy. We didn't want to spend the extra money on an electric fence, so we invested in a electric collar and within 1 day, Addison clearly understood her boundries and we've had no difficulties with her     trying to run around the neighborhood. The collar quickly became our "security blanket" but was not needed to ensure Addison stayed in her boundries. (if you use this collar, make sure to read the user guidelines because to appropriately train, the dog needs to know commands like come).  Brittanies need to be off lease as they love to run so any owner should have a way to ensure that the dog gets the ability to run freely.
We had no discipline issues with Addison. She can read each family member's personality and she quickly figured who does what for her. If she wants hugs and love, she comes to the mom of the house, if she wants to play she goes to the kids and if she wants to go outside, dad to the rescue. She will hunt out the right person to meet her needs.
I've lived my entire life with a dog or dogs and Addison is by far the most enjoyable pet. She is truly loved and if you're crazy about dogs with a personality, I recommend a dog from Jim and Paulette.
And be prepared, Brittanies are bird dogs and even in suburbs, a Brittany can figure out how to catch a bird. Addison is so proud of herself when she gets a bird from her yard!

Thank you, Jim and Paulette for our Britt.  We had the best experience when we found both of you.  Britt has become part of our family that we would not want to be without.
Britt is extremely smart. She has a lot of energy and very fun loving. She is always investigating whatever she sees outside. When our friend and family bring over their dogs , she loves to play with them.
She has been hunting 3 times and is a very quick learner. She is a joy to have in our home,
Here is a picture.

We recently lost our beloved Brittany at the age of 14.  It caused such a void in our lives that we were anxious to find another puppy.  After checking the internet and contacting other breeders, we found Jim and Paulette Doperalski.  We immediately received photos of Eagle's first litter.  All of the puppies were so cute, but we fell in love with one of the males we later named Raleigh.  The puppies were still very young and we had to wait weeks before we could take him home.  During that time, Jim and Paulette often updated us by email and sent photos of the puppies as they grew.  It was so exciting to hear about their progress - the first time they ate solid food, their check-ups with the vet, and their outside activities.  It was obvious to us that Jim and Paulette were not just breeders but had extensive knowledge about Brittanies and genuinely cared about the puppies.  They nurtured and worked with them to prepare them for their new homes.  The kind of love and attention Raleigh and the other puppies got in their care was incredible, and we intend to stay in touch with them so that they can see how Raleigh is growing.  It was a great experience, and Raleigh has been such a blessing.

Sincerely,

We simply love our little Blaze! He is such a good boy and Jim and Paulette were very informed and hospitable to us. We currently had a 2 year old golden retriever Mylie and wanted to get her a friend to play with while we are at work during the day. I wanted to get a Brittany primarily because I wanted an upland hunting companion. He is very birdy and seems like he will be a great hunting dog if I continue to train him right. Jim and Paulette gave me great advice on how to start him right and tactics they used to successfully train their four Brittanies. We are very excited and appreciative for the opportunity to have one of their puppies. I would recommend JD’s Hawks Brittanies to anyone who is looking for a loyal and smart companion.

Thank you Jim & Paulette for giving us such a wonderful dog!  About a year and a half ago our family decided to start looking for a puppy.  We are a very active family and, therefore, did not want a small lap dog.  BUT, I did not want a large dog either.  So, after some research on medium sized active dog breeds, we came across Jim & Paulette’s website.  We saw they had two Brittany puppies still available.  Our family made the drive to Suamico to visit the puppies and immediately fell in love!  We chose the one with a heart on his back and named him Oliver Romeo.  Jim and Paulette were so wonderful with updating us on Oliver until we could come and pick him up.  We went twice to visit and play with all the puppies.  Paulette sent pictures out weekly.   Those puppies were well cared for and loved.   It helps that Paulette was a nurse. She was very nurturing with these puppies.  Jim was having the puppies “point” at an early age and worked with each one.  We could tell that Jim and Paulette were not your typical breeders.  They treated each puppy like it was their own.  Paulette was crying the day we took Oliver home with us.  And, we have visited them since with Oliver, which is so nice.  It’s like family!  Oliver is a great dog.  Very active and loves to run.  You can tell he is bred to hunt and run.  And, he is very smart.  We had no problems with house training and obedience training thanks to the front work of Jim and Paulette.  He has fit in well with our girls also.  He is so good with kids and other dogs.  He is a very cuddly dog at times and will snuggle with any one of us at the end of the day or after a six mile run.  Jim and Paulette are always there to answer any questions we have about our Brittany.  They are very knowledgeable about this breed and have helped us with training Oliver to this day.  I would highly recommend JD’s Hawk’s Brittanies to anyone and everyone wanting a dog.  What a fantastic experience for our family.  We absolutely LOVE Oliver and could not imagine our family without him.

Thanks so much!

Indy is now one year old and he is a blessing!   He is spunky, happy and full of life.  Our children , 2 and 4 ½,   absolutely adore our sweet angel.   Jackson and Delaney definitely are not easy on Indy. They ride him, squeeze him and pull at his tail….  And Indy handles it with grace.   He is  gentle with them and I feel 100% confident that he will take care of my kiddos.  (and eat all of their socks J )

Indy has also been a blessing to us as a great hunter!   This fall is his first season and he has been out in the field with Brian on a regular basis pheasant hunting. He is a hard worker and it is easy to see hunting is natural to him.  He hunts with a group of experienced bird dogs, and you can’t even tell Indy is a rookie.  Don’t tell the others, but he often outperforms them!     He is beautiful to watch and we receive compliments constantly.

We were so fortunate to have found Paulette and Jim!  They take such great care of their Brits and we could not have asked for a better experience.  Recently, Indy even got to spend a week with them while we were on vacation.  Indy loved his family reunion and he had an absolute blast!

Thank you Paulette and Jim!!!!

It all started with us one cold winter day with Deb on the computer asking me what kind of dog was it that you used to have? I explained all about Lucky and that she was a Brittany.  Deb's google search quickly landed on Jim & Paulettes website JD's Hawk's Brittanies.  To our amazement they recently had a litter of eight beautiful pups... just days old.  Owning another dog was the last thing on my mind, but after viewing photos of the new born babies, I felt a renewed interest and decided to give Jim a call.  After talking with Jim for quite some time,  I asked if it would be ok to stop in for a visit to see the new bundles of "JOY".  At this point I still was unsure where this would lead us.

When we arrived at Jim & Paulette's beautiful home, we were greeted by a kennel full  of extremely well behaved Brittanys. We quickly met Jim & Paulette and were shown the pups in their home.  The pups were all beautiful and extremely well cared for.  Paulette was seemingly up around the clock ensuring all were equally nourished and any little messes which may have occurred were cleaned up.  There were no red flags of any kind that  I could see.  Jim & Paulette truly love their animals including the Brittany breed.  I was so impressed with what I saw on my visit, that I immediately put a deposit down on the last remaining "Little Girl".
In the following weeks, we looked forward to updated photos posted on the wedsite wondering which one would be ours.  Roughly six weeks later, we picked up our little Ruby.

Ruby is a highly energetic happy little girl with above average intelligence.  Potty training went well, although minimal accidents usually were our fault for not reading Ruby's actions correctly.  Ruby is" treat" motivated.  She very quickly and almost effortlessly learned to sit, sit stay, lay down and shake hands.  The Whoa command took very little time for her to comprehend with the use of a training table.   Ruby has her own personality and has brought much joy to our lives.  We would highly recommend a Brittany  from Jim & Paulette at JD's Hawk's Brittanies, LLC

Dommo is a wonderful family dog: affectionate, polite, just the best.

He's a terrific hunter, pins the bird until my old knees can get there. And he's a very good retriever -- water retrieves, too.

We really like our Brittany from James and Paulette. She was born on February 11,2014 and she is our princess.  My kids named her Baby Ang short for Angel.  Her registered name is Angel Marie and she loves to go out to look for birds.  She sits so nice like a true princess or Angel and of course she is spoiled and she knows it!
She also talks to you when she is talked to and telling her version of her day.

Jim & Paulette

I just wanted to send you a quick picture from my first hunt with Bandit on Friday. He has had basic obedience training but no real hunt specific training so I wasn't sure what to expect.
I went with three other friends and one other dog. We started the field with the other dog and then decided to hunt them at the same time. The people I was with were all experienced hunters so again my anxiety was high about how Bandit would react.

He worked the field like he had been doing it  for years. He stayed close and quartered back and forth. Within 10 minutes he locked up on his first bird. I fumbled around trying to get my cell phone out to take a picture all while Bandit stayed frozen like a statue. Unfortunately the picture didn't turn out, but I kicked the bird up, shot it and Bandit went right to it. He struggled a bit with the retrieve because I think he was a little confused by the feathers and the bird still had some life in it. But by the third bird he was retrieving nice.

He went on to point 6 birds that day and also helped to find a couple down birds that the other dog wasn't able to locate. The experienced hunters I was with could not believe that was his first time in the field. Needless to say his Dad was pretty proud.

Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful companion and natural hunter.
